BEAN STATION (WATE) - A Grainger County meth bust put six "big-time players" behind bars Friday.
Grainger County Sheriff Scott Layel said deputies raided a home at 121 Mullins School Rd., resulting in six arrests and the closure of an active meth lab.
"Our investigation determined that several of these defendants were big-time players in the meth and drug dealing operations in Grainger County," Layel said. "It is a significant blow to the drug culture ... of Grainger County."
When deputies arrived at the residence Friday, they smelled the odor of a meth lab in the area, a press release states. The six suspects fled the area, but deputies soon apprehended each suspect.
Investigation of the home revealed an active cooking lab and several products associated with manufacturing meth.
With the help of the Tennessee Meth Task Force, officials dismantled the lab without incident.
All six suspects scheduled for arraignment August 31.
